Spangler Candy Celebrates 100 Years with Sweet Contest

To celebrate Spangler Candys 100th anniversary in 2006, the company announces the Dum Dum Pops Make Life a Little Sweeter essay contest.
The goal is to recognize those who, like the little lollipops, brighten the lives of others through small gestures of kindness and generosity.
Often its the small things people do that can have a big impact in someones life, maybe changing them forever, said President and CEO Dean Spangler.
These are the people we want to find: the kind hearts who make a difference in the life of one person or impact an entire community, Spangler added.
Anyone can go to www.dumdumpops.com and click on the contest link to submit heart-warming stories about people young and old who carry on the Dum Dum Pops legacy. One winner in each of three categories (youth ages 13-18, adults ages 19-55, and seniors ages 56+) will receive a $1,000 cash prize and a case of 2,000 Dum Dum Pops, and the winners nominators will receive Dum Dum Pops and a t-shirt. Fifty first-prize winners in each age group also will receive candy and t-shirts. Official rules and nomination forms are available at www.dumdumpops.com from June 12 - August 31, 2006.
Winners will be announced in September 2006. The company, founded in 1906 by Arthur Spangler in Bryan, Ohio, is still operated by the Spangler family today.
